Club History
Founded in 1986 by a group of women who sought a civic group that women could join and participate in, since existing groups in town did not allow women to join. Newberg City Club’s current and most recent programs can be found at City Club Programs webpage.
2020 Programs
- In 2020, in response to the COVID pandemic, City Club went online in the format of City Club Conversations. For this format Mike Donahue – board member and long-time television journalist – volunteered his time interviewing guests, once again becoming a stable presence in people’s homes and a source of rigorous newsworthy information, carrying out the City Club mission.
- City Club board members Kat Ricker, Heath Cornick, and Rich Brown also made major contributions to Newberg City Club to ensure that the Club survived the COVID. When COVID hit and gathering together in-person for civic discourse was no longer an option, rather than allow NCC to become one of the many casualties of the pandemic, Kat, Heath and Rich worked with Mike Donahue to pivot to an online format. As a result, NCC maintained a regular schedule of meetings and was able to weather the crisis.
